Doing business in the port

Vuosaari Harbour handles container and ro-ro traffic. The transport connections are excellent. The easily navigable sea route leads directly to the open sea, and the highway-like Satamatie smoothly joins the similar-quality Ring III and the rest of the Finnish main road network. There are also great conditions for train transports: the port railway, which joins the main railway line in Kerava, runs directly to the Vuosaari Harbour quays and terminals.

Northern part of the gate area (Satamatie)

The following services are available in the northern part of the gate area:

• facilities for washing licence plates, located near the information board on Satamatie, at the end of the diesel pumps and next to the grill kiosk. A truck's licence plates must be clean so that camera identification can be performed successfully.

• parking areas P3 (24 h) with 82 truck spaces and P4 (4 h) with 45 truck spaces

Southern part of the gate area, Gate Area A (Harbour Road In)

The following are located in the Gatehouse

• harbour operators' service points (documents, passes)
• Customs office
• Port of Helsinki
• restaurant, WC

Parking area P1 (max 2 h) is reserved for drivers who need to stop at the Gatehouse before proceeding to the harbour area. Other drivers who have business in the Gatehouse should park in P2 (max 2 h).

There are facilities for washing licence plates next to the building. A pedestrian bridge (Porvarinsilta) also allows access by foot from P3 (max 24 h) to the Gatehouse.

Port Info

Port info manages the area surveillance and access control of the closed port area. Port Info takes care of the manual identification of trucks that have not been identified automatically. Operators' service points in the Gatehouse take care of cargo documents and passes. Port Info is open 24h/day.

Customs

If a truck driving to the harbour area must pass through Customs, changing signs will direct the truck to the Customs office as part of the identification process. The Customs office in the Gatehouse also serves the logistics area.

The Customs office in the Gatehouse takes care of customs clearance for imports and exports, other customs procedures and warehouses in the logistics area and business park (opening a TIR-Carnet etc). The office is open Monday-Friday from 8 am to 7 pm, tel. +358 20 690 624.

Parking in the P9 lot is reserved for units loaded at warehouses in the logistics area and business park.

The V6 building in Gate Area A has a clearance point for containers. A TIR-Carnet can be opened for full units passing through the harbour, for example. The service point is open Monday-Sunday from 6.30 am to midnight, tel. +358 20 690 628.

V6 serves heavy traffic arriving in the country and when the Gatehouse is closed, traffic leaving the country as well.

If customs services are needed between midnight and 6.30 am, information concerning the unit being brought or taken away and the estimated time of arrival should be faxed by 9 pm to fax +358 20 492 3101.
