Permits

The port security rules require that movement in the security areas, with the exception of public facilities and public areas, is subject to permits and is strictly controlled. Core areas meant for cargo handling (ISPS areas) are subject to security requirements that are stricter than those for other areas. There are ISPS areas within passenger terminals as well.

The permit procedure is aimed at ensuring that no unauthorised persons can move around in ports and that people moving in port areas are familiar with the common basic rules on movement so that various dangerous situations can be prevented.
