Parking permits in the harbour area

As a rule, parking permits for the harbour area are vehicle-specific. Besides vehicle registration number and operator and company names, permits include the areas they give access to.

The number of permits allowing access to the ISPS areas has been restricted, as most parking areas remain outside the ISPS areas.

The office handling control access passes and parking permits is located on the first floor of the south end of the Satamatalo building. Entry to the permit office is through the main entrance of Satamatalo or through the staircase at the south end of the building.

Permits may be applied for by using a form available by e-mail. Every section of the application must be carefully completed. Permit application for more than one vehicle must be justified. Permits may be applied for several motorcars and motorcycles belonging to the same household. A permit can also be applied for a vehicle otherwise regularly used by the applicant.

The operator of a vehicle is responsible for the people and goods carried in his/her vehicle.

Temporary parking permits are not granted for more than one month at a time. A person may apply for a temporary permit if he or she occasionally uses a vehicle other than his or her regular vehicle or for a temporary work assignment in the harbour.

Granting of parking permits is based on actual need only, as the number of parking spaces is limited in most parts of the harbour and the facilities.

The parking permit must be placed in such a way that it can be read from outside the car without difficulty. The permit need not be visible on motorcycles that a permit has been granted can, if necessary, be checked in the permit register.
