The Port of Helsinki has been nominated for the category of the Most Responsible Operator of the Year at the Finnish Travel Gala. The winners will be announced on 21 September 2017 at the Gala in Helsinki.
This will be the first Finnish Travel Gala, an event to be held annually in the future, where travel industry professionals gather to award the year’s best travel-related performances and phenomena.
The eco-friendly solutions at the Port of Helsinki and the new West Terminal 2, the price incentive in the waste water fees for international cruise ships, and the innovative solutions that make it easier for ships and passengers to move around attracted the jury’s attention and resulted in a nomination for the Most Responsible Operator of the Year.
The Port of Helsinki is extremely pleased about its nomination and the fact that the travel industry appreciates the Port’s work in the areas of the environment, safety and social responsibility.
The passenger ports’ location near the capital city’s centre and residential areas offers travellers a memorable experience and is a precondition for the shipping companies’ success. The Port values having a good relationship with the residents and businesses in its neighbouring areas, and together with other operators, the Port is promoting smooth maritime transport and creating opportunities for Helsinki’s continuous development.
The award categories for the Gala are:
- The Innovation of the Year
- The Responsible Operator of the Year
- The Best Enhancer of the Country’s Image
- The Travel Company of the Year
- The Most Memorable Travel or Service Experience
- The Most Attractive Presence on Social Media
Nominees for all six categories were accepted from travel industry professionals. In addition, nominees for the categories of the Most Memorable Travel or Service Experience and the Most Attractive Presence on Social Media were accepted from the entire nation. A total of over 950 nominations were received in all categories combined.
The Gala jury has shortlisted three nominees in the Responsible Operator category, and these are Ana Nylund, Finnair and the Port of Helsinki. The ultimate winner will be chosen in August and awarded at the Gala on 21 September.
