Service Traffic
Ship service traffic consists of all service and maintenance traffic en route to ships, cargo traffic to ships and commercial actor traffic to ships in the port area.
South Harbour and West Harbour
At the gate, delivery personnel must produce a document such as a waybill, order confirmation or some other reliable document showing that their goods have a recipient in the harbour or in a ship. Guards at the gates may confirm the validity of such business by contacting the party that ordered the goods.
Some shipping companies issue their own permits to regular delivery and service personnel. Delivery procedures may vary depending on the shipping company.
Drivers must also be prepared to prove their identity.
Vuosaari Harbour
Into the port area passes through either Gate A or Gate B depending on the kind of service or maintenance vehicles. The access pass for the area must be obtained prior to arrival in the area.
Tanker and garbage vehicles use Gate A to enter the area. The access pass for the area is issued by Finnsteve in its operations area or by FL Port Services. The access pass for Steveco's and Multi-Link's areas is issued as a rule by the shipping agent clearing the ship in question.
Cargo traffic en route to ships passes into the port area through either Gate A (heavy vehicle traffic) or Gate B. Vehicles involved in such traffic must have a valid access pass, which is available through the shipping agent.
Ships at berth are located in an area administered by a harbour operator. Harbour operators are responsible for traffic in their own areas, including commercial actors visiting ships, and issue access passes to any actors that they permit to enter their areas.
