Vuosaari’s first onshore power system was put into operation

The first onshore power connection in the Vuosaari Harbour was introduced at the beginning of the summer in traffic between Helsinki and Travemünde. The system provides a ship in the port with electricity generated on shore. This means that the ship does not need to keep its auxiliary engines running to generate electricity. The use of onshore power can significantly reduce the ship’s air emissions in the port area.
