Maira Kettunen started as Communications Manager
Maira Kettunen has started in her new role as the Port of Helsinki’s Communications Manager and a member of the Management Team. She joined the port from her position as Communications Director at Wellness Area HALI ry.
Kettunen is a versatile communications specialist from Helsinki with lengthy experience in the sector. Before spending just over six years at the Finnish Parliament, she worked at several different ministries during her time in public administration. This was followed by ten years in communications at Fennovoima.
“That experience is also helpful in this job, as I’ve dealt with so many different stakeholders: decision-makers at agency, municipal and national level, citizens, the media and labour organisations.
After Fennovoima, Kettunen worked for the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities when she briefly substituted for the Mayor’s special advisor.
“That experience also increased my interest in what the port does.” Working as an advocacy manager for Helen was likewise a useful experience and, being wholly owned by the City, it was also a similar type of organisation.”
In her new role, Kettunen plans to start by meeting as many people as possible. “I want to meet with all kinds of people to consider what communications can do to make the port even better. And we’ll certainly need plenty of communications to ensure that our stakeholders can keep up with all of the port’s highly interesting future development projects.”
