Flixbus takes Finns to European destinations
The German bus company Flixbus has already expanded to 44 countries, and new connections are now making European destinations accessible to Finns at attractive prices. The company is expanding its operations in Finland, and aims to partner with a number of Finnish bus companies.
The first Flixbus route opened in 2023 between Vaasa and Warsaw. In July–August this year, the company opened three new European bus routes: Joensuu–Hamburg, Tampere–Vilnius and Rovaniemi–Krakow. The journey from Tampere to Vilnius takes 18 hours, while Joensuu–Hamburg is 40 hours, and Rovaniemi–Krakow 39 hours.
The three new routes have one departure per day in both directions. All of the lines also stop at Helsinki Airport, in Kamppi, and at the West Harbour terminal.
A Baltic Sea crossing on Tallink Silja is also included in the price of a bus ticket.
Flixbus’ operating model is based on cooperation with independent bus companies. The company handles marketing and route optimisation, but does not own any buses itself.
Flixbus aims to be carbon neutral within Europe by 2040.
