Development of the N2 area continues – Port of Helsinki has purchased the entire lot
The Development of Vuosaari Harbour’s N2 area is making excellent progress. The eleven-acre plot previously served as a storage area for trailers and other equipment. Now, a new warehousing and forwarding area is being developed for logistics operators.
“We’ve purchased the entire N2 plot for ourselves. The plot has now been cleaned and levelled, and landuse planning is already partially complete. We’ve received plenty of interest from a number of logistics companies. In addition to negotiations with companies in our own sector, we’re in constant talks with city authorities about building permits and other necessary measures,” says Jani Lindroos, Development Manager at the Port of Helsinki.
“We’ll provide an asphalted area that will give trucks easy and direct access to the public street network. There’s also an area reserved for rail traffic. One idea is to introduce intermodal transport, that is, regular train services on which operators can purchase space for transporting containers and trailers,” says Lindroos.
