A lot of new office space is being built at the T2 terminal
A new 240-square-metre office is currently being built at Terminal T2 in the West Harbour. The second-floor premises are scheduled for completion by Midsummer 2024. They will include conference rooms, staff facilities, and an open office that can be shared by many operators.
“The expansion that is now being built was included in the original plans for the terminal, but was not implemented at the construction stage,” says Real Estate Manager Joni Nyholm.
The tenants will include the shipping companies operating out of the terminal (Eckerö Line and Tallink-Silja), but there is still room for other interested parties.
“To date, a variety of temporary solutions have been used at the terminal to make up for the lack of conference rooms, so the new premises will be a big improvement,” says Nyholm. PES-Arkkitehdit is responsible for the design of the office premises, and Kymppirakenne is the turnkey contractor. The construction work is unusual. It is not outwardly visible in any way, as the construction site is located completely within the terminal, right at its very centre. It has therefore been possible to implement the project without affecting passenger or service functions at the terminal.
