West Terminal 2 to test new security technology

Länsiterminaali 2.

The Port of Helsinki will be testing a modern security technology for passengers departing from West Terminal 2 between 20 March and 30 April. The Argon camera can screen for concealed objects in the crowd quickly, safely and without any disturbance to the passengers.

The device is located at the security checkpoint on the ground floor of the terminal and scans the passing flow of passengers. It is completely safe to use: it is based on a thermal camera and an artificial intelligence that can identify prohibited objects concealed under clothing by the shadow they cast in the thermal image. The device does not use an artificial radiation source or reveal any anatomical details of the people passing by.
