South Harbour, West Harbour and Vuosaari Harbour have environmental permits guiding their operations, in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act. The purpose of the permits is to regulate noise and emissions levels and waste management. Additionally, the permits necessitate annual inspection of and reporting on environmental impacts.

The summaries of the review decisions for the permit decrees of the environmental permits are a translation by the Port of Helsinki, and therefore the stipulations in the original environmental permit decrees are the relevant documents that must be adhered to.
