The Port of Helsinki is Finland's busiest passenger port. There are connections to Stockholm, Tallinn, St. Petersburg, Travemünde, Rostock and Gdynia. At the height of the summer season, there are 17 departures to Tallinn daily.

Ferries going to Sweden depart from the Olympia Terminal and the Katajanokka Terminal, whereas departures to Estonia leave from the West Terminal, Makasiini Terminal and Katajanokka Terminal. Ship departing to St. Petersburg leave from the West Terminal and departures to Germany and Poland leave from the Hansa Terminal.

During summer time international cruise ships make almost 300 visits and bring over 360 000 tourists to Helsinki.
