Mika Alava is the Port of Helsinki’s new Vice-President of Finances

Mika Alava, M.Sc. in Engineering, from Helsinki, will start as the Port of Helsinki’s new Vice-President of Finances and Member of the Management Team. Alava is moving to the Port from his role as the Chief Financial Officer of Infinited Fiber Company, which focuses on innovative textile recycling technology.
Mika has over a decade of experience of being a chief financial officer. His expertise is especially focused on the planning and implementation of capital-intensive projects and the related financing arrangements.
“The Port of Helsinki plays a highly significant role in securing a functional society and Finland’s economy as a whole through its export and import volumes. The Port’s ongoing development projects are not only immense investments, but also construction projects that impact the life of Helsinki residents, and it feels great to be involved in their planning and progress in the best possible way,” Alava states.
The Port of Helsinki’s CEO, Ville Haapasaari, wishes Alava welcome. “Mika’s expertise and experience of financial management and sectors such as the energy industry make him an excellent addition to our team. Mika also has wide-ranging experience of supervisory roles, which I consider to be highly valuable,” says Haapasaari.
“At the same time, I would like to thank our VP of Finances, Pekka Meronen, for his valuable long-term work for the Port of Helsinki’s development. I wish him the best of luck in his new position,” Haapasaari concludes.
