Only Port of Helsinki contract taxis to serve at Olympia Terminal

The Port of Helsinki will make taxi services less ambiguous at the Olympia Terminal. Starting from mid-May, the taxi lane at the terminal will be reserved only for taxi service providers that have a contract with the Port: Taksi Helsinki and Lähitaksi. The arrangement aims to ensure that all ship passengers get high-quality, reliable and safe taxi connections from the terminal.

The Port of Helsinki and its contract taxi partners have agreed in advance on things such as high-quality service level, clear pricing and use of low-emission vehicles.

“The new arrangement helps us make taxi services and the drop-off zone much clearer. We expect that, as a result, we will see an increased sense of security and an improved service level and passenger experience,” says Leonard Sannemann, project manager at the Port of Helsinki.

The taxi traffic control at the terminal will be coordinated and technically implemented by Taxi Point. The arrangement will ensure the functionality and availability of taxi services.

In addition to contract taxi partners, the terminal welcomes pre-booked taxis, which will have designated parking spaces in front of the terminal.

High-quality and safe connections from the terminal are a part of a positive travel experience. To ensure these, the contract taxi arrangement has already been used at West Terminal 2 and Katajanokka Terminal for several years.

“We are honoured to start serving taxi passengers at the Olympia Terminal, as well. We will serve ship passengers on every day of the year, around the clock. When using Lähitaksi taxis, the customer can trust the trip to be safe, reliable and high-quality. It also ensures a smooth travel chain to or from a ship,” says Sakari Lauriala, communications manager at Lähitaksi.

“We are delighted that Taksi Helsinki services will extend to the Olympia Terminal. Our new brand concept, ‘Worth Your Trust’, helps customers identify reliable taxis and reinforces our commitment to earning our customers’ trust in each of their interaction with us by being punctual and flexible,” says Suvi Viitala, sales and marketing director at Taksi Helsinki.

In summer 2024, the Port of Helsinki will also extend the contract taxi lanes to the Hernesaari cruise quay.
“The ships there are international cruise ships, which means that many of their passengers are visiting Helsinki for the first time. We want their first impression of Finnish customer service to be as positive and safe as possible,” Sanneman states.
