Pelago bicycle exhibition to open in the West Harbour – diversity of cycling on display at Terminal 2

Uudessa pop up -tilassa on esillä Pelagon pyöriä Länsiterminaali 2:n lähtöaulassa.

Port of Helsinki wants to make cycling a natural part of travel and encourage environmentally friendly choices. In May, the Port opened a new pop-up space in the departure lounge of West Terminal 2, the first content of which is an exhibition of the Finnish bicycle manufacturer Pelago.

The exhibition, which will run from 6th of May to 2nd of June, showcases the diversity of cycling – urban mobility, tourism and everyday convenience – through various bicycles. The exhibition is intended for those travelling through the terminal and contributes to the Port of Helsinki’s objective of promoting the role of cycling as a sustainable mode of travel. The West Harbour is easy to reach by bicycle, and you can also bring your own bike on a ship via the car deck.

Pelago is known for its high-quality, versatile bicycles that are ideal for both urban environments and longer adventures. The exhibition highlights not only the design and possible uses of bicycles, but also the role of cycling in promoting sustainable travel.

The harbour can also be conveniently accessed by city bike. The city bike season in Helsinki started in April, and the bikes will remain available for use until the end of October. There are city bike stations located right in the vicinity of the city centre terminals, and you can purchase a city bike pass for a day, a week, a month or the whole season. The city bikes are an easy way to get about for both tourists and city residents.

In addition, a new storage container for bicycles will be set up in the harbour area at the end of May, which will make bicycle storage during trips more secure.

Whether you are coming or going, a bicycle will get you to the harbour smoothly and sustainably – the Port of Helsinki is along every voyage, whether you are travelling by bicycle or ship.
