Tram 9T serves West Terminal 2 passengers starting April 7

Tram 9T will serve West Terminal passengers during the exceptional period from 7 April to 10 May. The tram will not operate along Välimerenkatu; instead, from the Huutokonttori stop, it will return to the city centre along the same route.

Tram routes to Jätkäsaari and West Harbour will change for five weeks starting from Tuesday, 7 April, after Easter. Trams will run via Ruoholahti and over the Crusell Bridge.

West Harbour will be served by tram 9T, which will operate with the longer vehicles familiar from light rail line 15. This new tram service will run from Market Square via Central Railway Station, Kamppi and Ruoholahti to West Terminal. From West Terminal, it will continue via Tyynenmerenkatu to the “Huutokonttori” stop. From Huutokonttori, the tram will return to the city center along the same route. The tram will not serve Välimerenkatu because there is no place for it to turn around to return to Ruoholahti. During the diversion, Välimerenkatu will be served by bus route 22.

The routes of trams 7 and 9, which normally run to West Harbour, will be shortened. Tram 9 will run via Ruoholahti Metro Station to the “Tahitinkatu” terminus in Jätkäsaari.  The terminus of tram 7 will move to Kolmikulma, allowing trams 9 and 9T to operate smoothly between Kamppi and Ruoholahti.
