The new rail operator ArcticRail will begin its operations from Vuosaari Harbour towards the end of July. The opening of rail operations in Finland has allowed the service range to become more versatile and competitive. ArcticRail operates at the port alongside VR Transpoint.

Vuosaari Harbour has excellent transport connections both by sea and on land. Good opportunities have also been created for rail transport: the port railway starts on the piers and terminals at the harbour and joins the main railway line in Kerava.

The freight traffic rail operators are responsible for heavy transport between industrial sites and harbours in Finland. The harbours manage their own rail network and service points. The harbour operators are responsible for loading and unloading cargo at Vuosaari Harbour.

ArcticRail Oy is a Finnish railway company established in 2023, which specialises in rail transport and hiring vehicles across the Finnish rail network. The company is now focusing on complementing the existing services and encouraging heavy transport to be carried on rail instead of on roads.

Transports carried by CMA CGM Finland Oy are carried by rail all around Finland, from Vuosaari Harbour to Tornio. The containers carry raw materials for the Finnish steel industry. The first transports were handled by VR Transpoint, and ArcticRail will take over in July.

CMA CGM Finland Oy is a Finnish subsidiary company fully owned by the French CMA CGM Group, the largest container shipping company in the world. The company is responsible for the Group’s sea transport and logistics services in Finland.
