Drone flying restricted in the Port of Helsinki’s areas

As of 18 April 2024, the Port of Helsinki’s areas are restrictive UAS geographical zones designated by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom. Flying an unmanned aircraft system (UAS), i.e. a drone, in restrictive UAS geographical zones is only allowed with a special permit. The restrictive UAS geographical zones has been designated to protect port operations and the safety of shipping traffic.

The restrictive UAS geographical zones cover the land and water areas indicated on the maps below in the South Harbour, Katajanokka, the West Harbour, Hernesaari and Vuosaari in Helsinki.

In some parts of Finland, drone flying is restricted with prohibited and restricted areas that have been set up for a fixed term or temporarily. It is the responsibility of the drone pilot or operator to determine the areas where drones cannot be flown before each flight.
More detailed information about UAS geographical zones and their restrictions are available on Traficom’s Droneinfo.fi service.
